‘M’ / ‘M and K’| How are you – Portraits in Silence by Chie

‘M’ and ‘M and K’ are parts of ‘How are you – Portraits in Silence’, a portrait series on racialized experiences within Germany’s political climate since October 2023. A climate that has been characterized by racist anti-muslim narratives, smear campaigns and scapegoatism, and police violence, leaving many feeling estranged, isolated, depressed.
These portraits are parts of a conversation about the violence of silence and silencing and their effects on those who are commonly portrayed as the “dangerous ones” in German society.

The project is a collaboration with photographer Delovie Kwagala.
