‘O to Occurence’ by Marina Rayzuki (Rei Zukidou)
Pencil, Charcoal, Acrylic, Oil Bar, Oil on Raw Canvas
300x280 cm
2024
Rei’s painting practice allows her to explore beyond the physical body where she surrenders to the ‘unknown’. By immersing in a moment, she leaves logic behind, instead, embracing the loss of self identification.
This allows for the questioning of existence itself, and specifically the visible and invisible interaction of all things. In this delicate, almost random dance between the conscious and unconscious, each new mark on the canvas is implied by the existing colours and fragments.
These often manifest into mystical signs, patterns, rhythms, and sometimes transforming into creatures and transcending stories. Crawling on the spread canvas, marking using pencils, oil paint, wood sticks, acrylic, oil pastels, and mixtures of materials.
