‘Paper Boulevard: a Soliloquy’ by Nicol Navas Gomez
Acrylic on Cotton Twill

I walk alone in this paper boulevard, with the chest hanging from the strings,
remembering that Madrid can also be forgotten.
In case you're wondering I'm still here, like a mare of the apocalypse but
with no homeland to spit shame at, nothing more than a squeezed howl
into this space. On the other side of death.

‘Bulevar de papel: un soliloquio/Paper Boulevard: a soliloquy’ is a fusion of theatre and painting, where the boundaries between visual and verbal art forms blur. It is a piece of words without voice and a scene without a stage, engaging in conversation with lettrism.
The work centres on a soliloquy delivered by Voz, who addresses someone buried in a distant land, in the search of an exhausted shadow and a fallen city. Through the act of remembering and verbalizing, Voz endeavours to reclaim a space from which it has been banished.
"Bulevar de papel: un soliloquio/Paper Boulevard: a Soliloquy" invites the
audience to witness this profound journey, where memory and words intertwine to create an interdisciplinary bridge. The textile stage on which this soliloquy is performed, weaves a dialogue between past and present, the individual and the urban.
