‘Unveiled Echoes’ by Naomi Boima

Mixed Media Sculpture

The sculpture "Unveiled Echoes" is a striking representation of a lung, meticulously crafted from yarn, synthetic fur, plasterboard, and foil. Measuring 150x160cm, it commands attention with its intricate details and powerful presence.

Created from an Afro-German perspective, this sculpture serves as a poignant exploration of the relationship and negotiation surrounding the death of my father, whose passing is deeply intertwined with structural injustices. The various materials used symbolize the complexity of the theme: yarn representing interconnectedness, synthetic fur embodying lost warmth, and plasterboard and foil highlighting the fragility of life.

Inspired by preceding poems integrated into this art installation, "Unveiled Echoes" offers a space for reflection on the impact of structural injustices on individual lives and relationships, viewed through a queer feminist lens. It stands not only as a testament to personal grief but also as a powerful expression of resilience and social critique.

‘Softy3’ by Naomi Boima

Digital Print on Fabric

"Softy 3" designed by Naomi Boima, who has explored themes of love and intimacy beyond (white) cis-heteronormative norms through large-scale prints over the past two years, all interconnected like a community. This particular blanket is inspired by Naomi's personal experience with grief.

Since two years Naomi loves to play continuously with largescale prints. All of them are connected, like a community. Naomi seeks inspiration from Black Queer people located in Berlin and London, imagined figures and books like “all about love” and “polysecure”. It’s about the beauty in desire and the comfort in reality.it’s about questions around love and intimacy outside of (white) cis-heteronormative realities.
